What Should be Included in HVAC Maintenance?

March 17, 2020

HVAC systems require regular care. If they aren’t maintained, then components will eventually stop working. Without a yearly tune-up, you could end up having to replace your HVAC equipment sooner rather than later. Here are some things technicians do during their visits that will keep your system alive longer.

Inspect and Change Filters

Filters are a very critical component of your HVAC system. A system with a clean filter doesn’t have to work nearly as hard as one with a dirty filter. Technicians will inspect and replace your system’s filter as necessary.

Clean and Remove Debris

Dust and debris settle on blowers, moving parts, and other components of your HVAC system. A technician will clean and remove the accumulated dust and debris and verify it hasn’t damaged anything. Quinte Air Supply of Belleville, Ontario, has technicians on-call who are experienced with all types of HVAC equipment. We are a Lennox Premier Dealer, and also have the training and experience to work on all makes and models of HVAC systems.

Check Thermostat Settings

Most HVAC systems today have either a programmable or smart thermostat. A technician will inspect the settings to verify the actual temperature and the settings on your thermostat match. If they are different, then the technician may need to assess your entire HVAC system.

Lubricate Moving Parts

There are multiple moving parts in your HVAC system. The technician will lubricate them so that friction is minimized. This will reduce wear and tear, helping the parts last longer.

Inspect and Clean Exhaust Outlets

If your HVAC system is natural gas, it has an exhaust outlet to allow dangerous gases to escape. A technician will make sure the outlet is free of debris and is clean so that carbon monoxide and other gases don’t build up in your home or business.
